Convert to mono FLAC

So I wanted to convert my digital lossless files as mono lossless files. I just could not do that very easily until I found this wonderful software that can do just that – and in bulk!

In order to be able to listen to lossless music on headphones, I use a Sony NW-A45 Walkman. It supports FLAC obviously. But of course my original FLAC files are mostly in stereo. I could have used an adapter jack on my headphones, but I’ve been using that solution for a long time and each time it starts to fail. A better and more durable solution would be to convert the original FLAC files in mono FLAC files. Great idea ! But wait : how do you do such a thing, especially with a big FLAC collection? After hours of research online, I found the perfect way : dBpoweramp Music Converter. It offers a conversion solution with a special « DSP Effect » : the « Channel Mapper » option. You just have to select each channel as 50% of the final sound file and… voilà! (I started to use the « channel count » option but it appears to have increased the volume of the files, which is not the case with the « channel mapper »).
